One of two poachers were caught on the Clovelly side of Fish Hoek after Table Mountain National Parks anti-poaching unit recognised their car in Glencairn.
After they saw the car, they followed at a distance and,
as good fortune would have it,came across a traffic department car. They asked the traffic cops to pull over the car, pretending a routine check.
This they did. When they were checking the driver’s licence, the driver saw the national parks people in the distance and legged it,running barefoot across the Silvermine River bridge and heading towards the Clovelly Country Club.
Neighbourhood watch members helped to search for this man but he wasn’t found –luckily for him everyone had to go to work.
The other man –from Philippi –was arrested and the snazzy metallic blue Renault with black tinted windows was impounded. Two bags, consisting of 269 shucked, mainly undersized, perlemoen were confiscated.

Good stuff! Well done for getting one of the guys
