In February,the neighbourhood watch was feeling very frustrated because a house had been broken into when no one was home. No one saw when it was done or who might have done it. Irritating,yes,but police systems came to the fore and the culprit has been arrested. [...] After a week of all-nighters waiting for the car thieves to come back to Clovelly,they were finally caught at about 5am this morning. [...] On Monday 8 November 2010,a slim young “coloured” man named Quentin,recently released from Pollsmoor,crossed the road and quietly opened 2m-high bolted gates in a property in Riverside Road,Silverglades,and sauntered into the property towards a bicycle parked in the garden. The homeowner opened the door whereupon [...] The picture attached is of the young guy who stole a copper pipe off the wall of Tudor House in Simonstown Road on Thursday 18 Feb. A motorist saw this and told Tudor house. A radio call was put out and several NWs responded. He was chased along the railway line and other patrollers waited [...] Two burglars made a very big mistake by breaking into the house belonging to a local policeman’s family in 10th Ave today,Friday 12 Feb,late morning. The call was put out and NWs formed a cordon around the perimeter where the guys were last seen. The police (satisfyingly,the one whose family was affected) [...] Information from the police has been in short supply recently,so we have only snippets. Yesterday (Thursday 11 Feb) there were two break-ins in Nerina Crescent,just over the pipe bridge towards Bay Primary. The burglars had removed the glass and then strewn everything about the houses looking for small things to steal,such as [...] Last night a man got into a house in Hilton Road. The homeowner,who was home with his baby,heard the floor creaking and went to investigate. A man was in their lounge. He was wearing a bandana around his face. (Sunflower fund bandana.) The homeowner shouted at him and at first the man was [...] A burglar we caught recently trying to break in to a house in Clovelly Road near the club is likely to get off. He had climbed up into a first floor bedroom. The residents instantly called the NW and the man was seen running a bit further down the road and finally caught in Montrose [...] Two men involved in the Armed Robbery at the Spur on Sunday 5th April 2009,were successfully arrested on the same night. Not sure yet how the first guy was arrested,but the guy with the gun was arrested after a magnificent joint effort by SAPS and NWs after he ran into the Clovelly wetlands.
